Frequently asked questions
A session is 50 minutes and held in person or online.
People are often unsure about the difference between counselling and psychotherapy; the two terms often overlap. In reality, both are forms of ‘talking therapy’—safe, supportive spaces where you can speak openly and be truly heard.
Counselling - usually focuses on specific issues or challenges that someone is facing in the here and now.
People might seek counselling for things like stress, relationship issues, work challenges, life changes, or managing difficult emotions.
Psychotherapy - often works at a deeper level, exploring patterns, emotions, and experiences that may come from the past as well as the present.
Psychotherapy can be helpful for more complex emotional struggles, long-term patterns, trauma, or when someone wants deeper personal growth and self-understanding.
It’s completely normal to question whether a therapist is the right match. The best way to know is by noticing how you feel when we talk—do you feel understood, supported, and at ease? A good therapeutic relationship is built on trust, safety, and connection, and our initial meeting is a chance to see if that feels right for you.
This is different for everyone, depending on your reasons for seeking therapy. We will discuss this in our initial session and decide together what feels suitable. We will regularily review the process and discuss how best to move forward.
Regular weekly sessions help to build a trusting therapeutic relationship but sometimes this does not work for everyone - I will do my best to explore a frequency that feels most suited to you.
